LPO Deep Moor Weather: Station Information

The Deep Moor Weather Station is the property of the Department of Defense. The station is sponsored by the Naval Sea Systems Command, maintained and operated Acoustic Research Detachment (ARD) of the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) located in Bayview, Idaho.

The weather station provides conditions in the vicinity of the Navy's underwater acoustic popup test ranges. This information is used by scientists and engineers to determine the best times to conduct acoustic measurments and when to retrieve and deploy experimental equipment.

The station was installed on August 18, 2006 at a position of:

LAT 48 01' 06" N
LONG 116 29' 42" W

This position is NorthEast of Cape Horn Peak.
